Step up my hair care for fine hair!

I've long been a drugstore shampoo girl but after forty maybe I can afford to step it up a bit. What nicer but still reasonably-priced shampoo/conditioner is good for my straight, fine, thick hair?

My hair is a 1 with maybe 2a ascendant, very fine, very thick, very straight. I currently wash my hair every other day and would like not to have to do it more often. After a couple of days it gets greasy. I've been using Aveeno but a recent reformulation is leaving my hair greasy faster. I prefer not to have to do anything with it afterwards; towel turban for a few minutes after shower, brush out and go. No products. I blow dry in the winter.

Is there a drugstore brand that is nicer than the rest? Bonus if it's on Amazon Subscribe and Save. Do I need to go to a specialty store (please say no)? My kids will take anything of mine and waste it, so I don't want to go full salon-quality/price.

It sounds like your hair is very similar to mine, and I've had GREAT success with the L'Oreal El Vive clay balancing blend. It is indeed available on Amazon.

Seconding the L'Oreal El Vive clay. I have tried so many things (including stuff like Bumble&Bumble and TIGI) and I keep going back to the El Vive.

I swear by Kristin Ess hair products. Their signature shampoo is gently clarifying but I use the extra gentle shampoo for softer hair. If I don’t wash it everyday it stays clean between washes, even if I’m active outdoors. I can find it at Target or Walgreens.

Edit- I didn’t check Amazon but the website has a discount subscription plan.

I like the Shikai everyday shampoo. (My hair sounds similar, maybe just slightly wavier.)

I like Hibar shampoo bars (the one for volume), but they are expensive and don’t last very long. I’ve been having success with a dry shampoo made of just arrowroot and cocoa powder, too.
