It's a STEEL

It's my 11th Wedding anniversary so give me your puns, idea, suggestions, notions or what have you for activities or adventures relating to STEEL.

I ask variants on this question a lot (Here are the previous years). I'm not looking for gift ideas, I'm looking for activities that I can do in late June in or near London.

Please feel free to be as wide ranging and tenuous in your suggestions as you like.

The London Eye is made of steel…listen to Steely Dan on the way.

Call a steel/ metal company and see if they have a workshop involving steel

Take a private Steel Drums/Steel Gutair lesson

The London Eye is made of carbon steel. The romantic offerings are pretty pricy, but you could just go for a regular spin and then a meal or drinks somewhere else afterwards (I like afternoon tea at The Library).

This is a stretch, but the antagonist of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility is called Lucy Steele, and parts of the 1995 movie version were filmed on location in London at Somerset House on the Strand, and at the Old Royal Naval College and National Maritime Museum at Greenwich.

Never been to that side of the pond, much less to London in particular, but I imagine there is plenty of steel on display at the various branches of the Imperial War Museum.

Nor am I particularly knowledgeable about the history of steel, but I believe it overtook plain old iron beginning with the industrial revolution when big machinery came to be a thing. One industry in particular was the railroads, and certainly London had more than a fair share early on, and still does. I dont know what London has, if anything, in the way of railroad museums, or tourist excursions behind antique steam engines.

On the domestic front, carbon steel pans are a hot new item in cookware.

Sheffield is known as The Steel City, and they have several museums dedicated to, essentially, steel.

(Sheffield is about 140 miles from London, and you can get there on a train in 2 hours, so this depends on your definition of "near London")

Remington Steele (Pierce Brosnan, Stephanie Zimbalist), and the episode titles were based on the word "steal".
Stollen bread.
A diy gift card for a year of stolen kisses, hole punched as desired, with a grand prize after a certain number of turns.

Steel = steal = heists!

I'd do a selection of heist movies (not necessarily endorsing that list, it ranks The Sting embarrassingly low, but it's a decent place to start). Then go to a museum and pick your target - which painting/artifact do you both like that seems like you could make a good profit from on the sly - and plot your heist over drinks/dinner.

(Happy anniversary!)

I immediately think of Zoolander and BLUE STEEL. The DVD and a CD of Steely Dan would make a great combo.

Steely Dan gets mentioned a couple of times here but not the origin of the band name itself

Welding class, I don't know your area but you should be able to find someone to do a one day welding class just for the two of you. Maybe the two of you can even make a special souvenir of the day together, welded out of steel.
