Lunchables inflated package ok to give kids?
I just got some turkey lunchable through Walmart pickup and the plastic is slightly puffy. Do we think these are ok to eat or should I toss them?

puffy is not a good sign. I don't think its worth the risk.

Do you live at some altitude? If things were packed at sea level and you are higher, the pkg will expand

Response by poster: Further info: we do live at a higher altitude, the packages are definitely fully sealed, and the dates are months away.

Is there any way you can check the others in the store and see if they look the same? If so I would figure it's normal processing (either inflated with inert gas to protect from spoilage, or altitude change).

Unless this is the first time you have bought a lunchable, you already know if they are usually expanded because of the altitude. If they are not normally expanded, this is a clear no.

I've sent a slightly inflated lunchable with my kid before in a "oh shoot we gotta get out the door" situation and no illness ensued - but I felt weird enough about it that I probably won't do it again and will keep a closer eye on my lunchable supply so I notice this before it's an emergency if it happens again. Super annoying to have to bin them but I'd feel incredibly guilty if my kids got sick because I didn't want to "waste" spoiled food.

I bought a lunchable a couple of months ago and when I opened it the pepperoni inside (for the little pizzas) was mushy and crumbled.
I went on the Lunchables website and let them know (along with the lot number and bar code from the pacakge) and they sent me a voucher for a free replacement in the mail. You might want to do the same.
