Popeye's chicken round to the next dollar roulette wheel

Years ago (05-08 I think?)when I lived in New Haven the local Popeyes had a weird thing where after you said what you were ordering a screen would show a spinning roulette wheel and offer a item you could get for rounding up to the next dollar. I've never seen something like this before or since. Has anyone else ever encountered this weird marketing gimmick again?

I'm pretty sure it based the item you would get from the added cost on how much you needed to round up. If you were at 6.82 going to 7 would get you a small soda, but going from 5.13 to 6 might get you an extra drumstick or side. I'm pretty sure it was at least lightly random since two people could order the same meal and get different offers for the round up. If it was really close they might have rounded up to the the second to next dollar (8.98>10) and offer your something larger. Did this happen anywhere else or was it just a weird thing they tried in a target market?

I have not seen it elsewhere, but I will validate that this was real, as was the walk-up counter at that site.
