Seeking secure USB wifi extender compatible with latest Mac OS

Is there a reputable USB wifi extender that will work with a modern Mac laptop? TP-Link models don't support recent versions of MacOS. Off-brand models appear to have serious security vulnerabilities.
This is my previous related question. We've added an access point closer to his room, but he continues to have intermittent wifi issues using his laptop there. It seems like a USB wifi extender would be a simple way to address these issues, but I can't find one that (a) works with the latest versions of macOS, and (b) isn't a high probability vector for malware.
Is there a reputable USB wifi extender that we can use? (I know I could run ethernet to his room and I might be able to get the access point closer to him, but the wifi extender would be simplest solution if I can find one.)

if it were me i'd run a couple cat6 ethernet cables properly, and i don't mean a patch cable dragged down the hall. if that were off the table i'd replace the the residential-grade APs and put in a Ubiquiti AP or two. one might be enough, idk what your house is like.
