Where should I stay in Savannah, GA in April?

Myself and a friend, females around 50, are planning to travel to Savannah for a show at District Live at Plant Riverside District. Do you have any recommendations for a place to stay, probably within walking distance? I love a place with an excellent bathtub, under $250/night. Happily accepting suggestions of places to eat, places to sip, and things to do, as well, in early April. Thanks!

They built that facility in an "economically depressed" area. I would not recommend walking in that area esp. after dark. There are no hotels close by. We have several pedicab services if you want to go that way.
The rest of your question - it depends on what you like. If you don't mind being a part of the tourist crowd, City Market area has all sorts of restaurants and bars. Nearby on W Congress street are more bars, some with live music, and more restaurants.
River street is something I guess most would like to see - more restaurants, more bars.
Speaking as a resident, west side of downtown has been turned into a kind of theme park.

We took a historic trolley tour and they really glossed over the Civil War and slavery. If I could do it again I’d take a trolley tour with an African American led/owned company.

If you are into architecture, there are many wonderful buildings to visit. One of our favorites is the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist. We missed it on our first trip but went back later. We usually catch one of the on/off trolleys and ride for awhile to get an idea of places we want to visit on foot. There are many good restaurants in the downtown area; we usually ask locals for their suggestions. Might you take an uber or lyft to the event from your hotel?
