Is Pixel 6 Pro No Go For Now?

Should I wait to use my soon to arrive Pixel 6 Pro until it's peripherals are available or should I try to find a work around?

I am hard on cell phones, yet my last phone, a Pixel 4 XL has survived relatively unscathed due to a good glass screen protector and and a robust armored case.

I have a ordered a new Pixel 6 Pro from Google and it's due to arrive in a couple of weeks. Due to the shape of the screen and its fingerprint ID embedded in its UI, only a few Google approved screens will work effectively.

All the known outlets seem to be currently out of both the screen protectors and the specific type of robust cases I need for the phone to be safe. There is no indication of when they will be back in stock.

I wanted to use my new phone when I go on a trip mid-January. Should I by some cheap peripherals to get me through the trip. Should I just buy damage insurance ( which I've never done before)? Or, should I just not activate the new phone until the right cases and protector are available?

Not sure what you're considering "all the known outlets" but there's a glut of cases on Amazon that would seemingly work with the Pixel 6 Pro and would arrive quickly (at least in the U.S. - unclear where you're at).

But, in your shoes if there's a particular case I really wanted but planned to travel with a spendy phone - I'd buy a "cheap" case to hold me over for the trip. No sense in having a top-of-line phone and not using it for a trip.

At minimum I'd buy a cheap case. My new Pixel was slippery enough that it kept sliding off by places I set it down in the house, and I was very anxious until my case showed up.

I have a regular Pixel 6 and it is super slippery. I ended up buying an official Google one online but any case that's TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) will provide more traction and good scratch protection.
