Child appropriate music that mentions cats or dogs please!

My kid is having a 7th birthday party with a cat and dog theme this weekend. Please help me make a playlist of kid-appropriate music for freeze dancing or general entertainment! (Please nothing where cat actually means people’s junk, there are some oddly conservative parents involved.) not in English is fine, any genre is fine. Thank you!

Leaf House by Animal Collective is pretty silly, the end bit has a lot of "meooooww, kitties!"

There's also this excellent "Duet for Two Cats" that gets lively.

George Clinton - Atomic Dog (Yes, "chasing the cat" means what you think it means, but it's still a safe choice IMO.)
Stray Cats - Stray Cat Strut
The Cure - Love Cats

Lovecats by The Cure is fun and no inappropriate lyrics, I think

I heard this on the radio the other day and found it pretty funny. I'm sure I would have thought it was the funniest thing ever as a child.

I am not a parent, but it's probably kid appropriate if "wiener" as in dog isn't too much for those conservative parents.

Some random distant cousin of mine had a band when he was younger, and my parents had a copy of their album. For your consideration: The Source - Feed the Cats
If I remember right I think there were 4 cats credited by name in the album notes contributing backing vocals.

Presley's version of Hound Dog? Is that too obvious?

Big Mama Thornton's original might not get by those parents...

Everybody Wants to Be a Cat, from the Aristocats movie - avoid the movie version which has some nasty racist scenes in it, but there are some decent covers.

They Might Be Giants has some kids music with dog and cat references (like Walking my Cat Named Dog, or Moles, Hounds, Bears, Bees and Hares) although my first thought was the song Mammals from an earlier ('adult' music) album.

"Cactus Cat" by Look Blue Go Purple

The species of "My Pal Foot Foot" isn't established, but it might be a cat or a dog? I sing it to the cats anyway.

You Can Eat Dog Food, by Tom Paxton, would fit the bill - it’s funny and comes across as a kids’ song to kids, although there’s more than a hint of irony in there.

Who let the dogs out?

Also, try the Bluey album- no direct reference to dogs but it is a children's cartoon about dogs.

This is a show’s theme song and is kind of short, but I can tell the songwriter listened to a lot of the same stuff I did as a teen. It’s insanely catchy:

Jane Siberry—Everything Reminds Me of My Dog. Great song, super catchy, child appropriate IMO. One quick line says “pissing on their favourite tree” but that’s as risqué as it gets.

The How Much is that Doggie in the Window linked above is great for games - there’s unpredictable barking in it as a cue. I’ve used it for a waltz mixer with adults, hilarity ensued.

Caspar Babypants is my favourite kids artist (that adults enjoy), and has several dog/cat related songs:
• My flea has dogs
Pussy cat, pussy cat
Dog gone, dog gone
• Here boy come home
• Drowsy Dopey Dozey Dog

I will let you decide if you’re comfortable with the line “catnip is a kittycat drug” but Shonen Knife’s “Catnip Dream” is pretty adorable. Bonus: mentions a cat’s birthday party.

not in English is fine
Literal children's songs, from the Zecchino d'Oro:

- Cane e gatto (a cat who wants to be a dog and a dog who wants to be a cat)
- Quarantaquattro gatti (a bunch of stray cats are having a meeting about wanting to get adopted by kids)
- Volevo un gatto nero (the singer wanted a black cat, was willing to trade a whole lot of other animals for it, got a white cat instead, is annoyed about it)
- Cha cha cha del gatto nella scatola (why does the cat go in the box?)
- Il gatto puzzolone (a cat who does not want to bathe and thus is really smelly)

There's probably a whole lot more where those came from, but those are the ones that come to mind immediately (plus a few that were in the related videos).

It's now the weekend, so this may come too late, but Pink Martini's Lily is about a dog. It doesn't actually mention the word "dog" but it's pretty clear from the other lyrics (especially if it's on a playlist about other cats and dogs.)

Less clearly, Martha My Dear is about Paul McCartney's dog.
