Help me weave a deck chair pillowcase

I just bought a 15 inch 4 shaft table loom, and the first project I want to make is a pillowcase for a deck chair pillow. What would be good yarns to get, and what weaving patterns might be fun to try? My priorities are to make it washable and durable for outdoor use, though I won’t leave it outside in bad weather. It shouldn’t be too scratchy either!

I’ve taken a few floor loom classes so I know the basics of multi shaft weaving but i am still a beginner. The loom comes with a 12 dent reed and I’d rather not buy a new one for this project.

Best answer: There are so many colors of cotton and cottolin (cotton linen blend) that would give you washable options. A medium size cotton yarn to start with would be 10/2, which you’d sley 2 ends per dent for 24 Epi for plain weave as a starting place. If that feels too fine for your tastes, there are larger sizes also available in many colors. Stripes or checks in plain weave might be a nice place to start, or snag nearly any 4-shaft twill draft from Handweaving.net.

For a pillow cover you are going to want to keep floats short. And allow for both shrinkage and seam allowances when planning your warp.
