Specific question about the beginning of season 2 of Star Trek Discovery: Tilly's storyline
This is from the first part of season 2, when Tilly is having the visions of May Ahearn (who turns out to be an alien fungus creature). When Tilly is on the bridge with Captain Pike et al, May is getting increasingly angry asking to see the captain, and saying that the captain is someone shorter and lighter and I think she even says "whiter" than Pike. Who or what is she referring to?

I like that idea. (And I love Rapp as an actor.) But, do we ever see Stamets as acting captain? I can name 6 characters who've been in the chair, but he's not among them. Maybe it's a cut scene?

He's not the org chart captain, he's the guy who steers the spore drive. The spore drive is the thing that the fungus cares about.

Yep, as far as May is concerned, Stamets is clearly the most important person on the ship because he's in charge of the spore drive.
