Can I take an edible after the second COVID shot?

I had my second dose of the Pfizer shot today. I suffer from chronic pain, anxiety and insomnia and am a medical marijuana patient. Is it ok to take edibles later this afternoon? It would be around 300mg of indica. I know y’all ANMD, but am still hoping the hive mind can help.

As far as I can tell, there are no contra-indica-tions between vaccines and edibles. You do you, partially-immune traveler.

From an NPR Q&A: Well, you didn't specify what you'd be smoking. But actually it doesn't matter. Smoking, generally – be it marijuana, tobacco or via a vape – has not been known to interfere directly with the efficacy of the vaccine

There are definitely no double blind controlled studies on this topic. Having said that, nothing we know about vaccines, the COVID vaccine, or weed would provide any indication that the two would interact in any way.

Yeah have a good time and get some rest. My dad (82) had a brief fever after his second dose, so do be on the lookout for the rare potential side effects, but the edible won't figure into that.

OH yeah good point. Lots of folks have wicked side effects with the second dose. I did - feverish, malaise. But for most people it hits about 24 hours after, not the same day (besides arm soreness). Just something to be aware of.

If you're prone to anxiety with that dose (or a higher dose, I suppose) just be aware that the fever and chills can be accompanied by an elevated heart rate. Mine hit 12 hours after shot 2 and kept spiking up to 120bpm from efforts like rolling over in bed. I got some sweet antibodies out of it, so no complaints, but if I'd combined it with THC I can imagine a scenario where I would've been freaking out monitoring my pulse at 3am. YMMV, of course, and I hope it does!

Props on 300mg. I know several people who were high going into the vax and then smoked more afterwards. 300mg seems like a lot, but if that is your standard dose, why not?!

Just wanted to reiterate that 300mg is a whole lot (ref here). If you're a regular medical marijuana patient and understand your dosage then you know what's good for you. Just double checking and/or posting this as a warning to any more casual users who might be reading this. 10mg is often cited as a standard amount for a single edible dose. Then again tolerance is a real thing and regular consumers can use much larger dosages.
