Where does one park at Citizens Bank field?

The old man bought me opening day tickets for the Phillies' new ballpark and, boy, do we have some issues...

Neither of us have been to the new stadium and that's the crux of it; Dad's driving down to get there and I'm gonna be taking the subway to meet him. My old man needs to park in a handicap spot somewhere close to first base, with as few city-navigating requirements as possible. I can hike anywhere, so that's not an issue.

Anyone able to suggest a good meeting point for us?

(BTW: (lol) Go Cardinals!)

Does one of you have the tickets in hand, can you each get your own ticket, or do you need to pick them up together at the box office?

Because if you each have them in hand, maybe just meet at your seats?

Best answer: I'm going to the games on Wednesday and Thursday - Go Cards! indeed.

Here's the page on parking at CPB. There are handicapped spots for $10 (as long as you have the correct license or hang tag) in lot P, which is nearest to the first base side. I would advise your dad to get there WAY WAY early. Traffic will be terrible with the Opening Day kinks to work out. It's hard to say how best to navigate to the lot without knowing where he's coming from, though.

A good meeting spot would be the Robin Roberts statue outside of the 1st base gate.

At his parking spot? (I'm assuming you both have cell phones . . .)

Those reserved handicapped spots on the first-base side are quite difficult to get -- they're mainly taken by people with "preferred" parking privileges (season tix holders). I'd suggest calling the Phillies to see if any are still available.

Not knowing your dad's mobility, a few notes: ALL the parking around the stadium is flat, no garages or steps. If that's still a problem, consider meeting somewhere before the game, possibly in Center City, and taking a taxicab together to the ballpark. You can easily flag down a taxicab on Pattison Avenue after the game.

You'll also find that, once in the park, it's very accessible (wheelchair/disabled seating areas behind the first level).

FYI, handicap tags/plates are a dime a dozen in scam-happy Philly. Handicap spots fill up quickly everywhere in town.

If you can't be assured of close parking consider getting your Dad to rent a wheel chair for the day (assuming you can push it). They aren't wildly expensive, they'll fit in many trunks and it's not much of a effort to push them on the flat. I'm not sure whether you could take them into the stands but if not you could wheel your Dad from his car to the gate then return the chair to his car. I'd be though that security has storage for wheel chairs available, phone and inquire.

On your meeting spot requirements: if you go the wheelchair route you could coordinate meet up the day of with cell phones or FRS radios.

I pretty sure at Citizens Bank there are two huge signs that say FIRST BASE ENTRANCE and THIRD BASE ENTRANCE in their respective spots.

Go Phils.
