Voice control mute for Windows?

Cortana used to be able to control system volume, but everybody hated Cortana and so they took anything useful out to spite users I guess? (Gotta love Microsoft)
So I started watching Columbo on Peacock, which means sitting through commercials. Which is fine if I can mute them. But I’m watching on a laptop hooked up to a projector and I’m knitting, so I’d love to not have to reach over to the coffee table and push a button.
Is there a way to make it so I can just say “Computer, mute!” and “computer, unmute!” It seems weird that there’s no straightforward way to do this in 2021. Am I missing something?
