The closing minute of season 3 episode 5 of Deadbeat has a character using an unusual rope/wooden ladder [image]. Does this style of ladder have a name and what was the original use?

Best answer: It's a Jacob's ladder (also pilot ladder). The oval wooden pieces are to stop the whole thing tangling up on itself and to make it easy to roll.

Best answer: It's a type of Pilot Ladder , or as I like to think of them, "boarding ladders".

They're designed to hold the steps off the side of a ship so you can climb it, such as when climbing up from a pilot boat or dinghy onto a larger ship.
