My client asked if I'd be interested in full-time ... now, radio silence

I've been consulting part-time for a tech app. The CEO asked me 3 weeks ago if I'd have any interest in going full-time. I expressed enthusiasm, he expressed even more enthusiasm. Unfortunately, nobody has brought it up since. Do I sit tight or poke them to figure out next steps?

In the past year I changed my career entirely and took on my first paid clients (woohoo!). For the past 6 months I've been consulting part-time for a tech app, and have really fallen in love with the mission and team. The work feels very fulfilling and meaningful, the team is a delightful mix of goofy and hardworking, they pay well, and I get a ton of autonomy and respect from my coworkers. A few months ago I started daydreaming that they would ask me to go full time.

Three weeks ago, my daydreams were answered! During a 1:1 call, the CEO said they were interested in potentially bringing me on full-time. I said I loved working with the team, and would definitely be very interested in winding down my other clients and entering a full-time situation. He seemed very pleased with my answer, but he didn't provide any next steps or timeline and I (of course!) totally forgot to ask.

Since then, the team has started inviting me to more meetings and including me on more projects. I'm now up to 30 hrs/wk with them... all amazing!! However, nobody has circled back about the full-time conversation. I think because I now feel emotionally invested in the outcome, I am starting to feel very antsy. I'm wondering if I should bring up next steps with the CEO, or just keep working hard and let him bring it up again when the time is right.

Important detail: the company is currently in the process of raising a bridge round of funding, so it's possible that they're waiting for that next round to go through before broach the hiring conversation.

So, whaddya think? Should I just take a deep breath and let it go, or should I be proactive about next steps?

What's the harm in asking? Send an email, brief, positive tone, saying you're still interested and asking if there's anything more they need from you on this. Can't hurt.

A good CEO typically has a lot to keep track of and it's easy to forget stuff like this, especially if all the work is getting done under the existing contract. It's possible they'll want to wait to convert you until after the round of funding, but checking in on the matter shouldn't be a problem.

Response by poster: Update: I reached out to the CEO, and he apologized for dropping the ball. They will be extending an offer by the end of this week. :)
