Strange sound in my neck giving me the creeps!

You are not my doctor and I do have a doctors appointment with a spine doctor on the 11th, don’t worry! I’m wondering if what I’m feeling is normal and I just never noticed or what it could be. Basically I was touching my neck a couple days ago and I pressed the area kind of behind the thyroid and deep inside I could feel it crunchyish and something moves that I never felt before. The other side doesn’t do that. I just had haylauronic acid injected for a bulging disc on the other side (about 3 weeks ago)...

I also have migraines quite a lot btw. Do any of you know what this could be? Is it normal? Has it happened to you? I’m just nervous while I’m waiting for my appointment.

Response by poster: Ps- I guess it felt a bit tender around there which is why I felt myself go to press around and kind of massage.

Best answer: Crunchy-nes? Yes, but only when I tilted or rotated my neck.
Migraines/headaches? Yes, especially at the end of the week after working my desk-bound job. I had referred pain down the side of my arm to my elbow and forearm.

I woke up one morning unable to move my head/neck and in so much pain I could barely rotate myself out of bed. One neck xray later, I was diagnosed with Cervical Radiculopathy and prescribed pain meds and physical therapy.

As I've said in the past, I'm not a doctor and this is not necessarily what you may be feeling but the I had brought up my crunchy neck (trademark pending) to my first PCP and they dismissed it until it became an issue.

Ultimately, for me, the solution was and is to correct my posture, strengthen my back and neck and not spend too much time on the computer, which is difficult to since that's my main job, and take plenty of breaks and stretch.

Best answer: Could you be feeling your hyoid bone?

Best answer: i'm gonna go with hyoid bone, too. After googling what it was, I'm pretty sure that's also what i've been feeling making a crunchy pop as I adjust it when I get "stuck" trying to swallow.

Response by poster: Thank you all, I’ve looked around at anatomy pictures and it does feel like the place where the hyoid is. Thank you!
