Search engine spyware?

I posted this awhile back and I thought it had fixed my Chrome spyware issue - but when the browser restarts so does the spyware. Any clues to fixing it?

The bug is basically that it forces some probably fake version of Yahoo to be my default search engine. Obviously I can disable that, but it comes back. I've also noticed that once a day, Chrome completely dies. When I restart... same problem. I worry it's stealing my passwords or something too.

Googling has not helped so far but would be so grateful if anyone had insight...!

Did you run Malwarebytes?

Ahh, that did it, thanks a lot. The first time around I had already disabled the thing and I didn't get any hits back about a virus, but did this time.
