The unicorn of women's minimalist day hike bags

I'm looking for a lightweight crossbody bag that will hold a tall water bottle (Hydro Flask) while also having a zippered pocket that's large enough to hold a women's wallet. Does this product exist?

I've been going on more frequent day hikes lately, short enough that I only need to carry a single water bottle. I'd like to be able to throw my wallet/keys/phone into a crossbody bag along with the bottle. Right now I'm using a basic fashion bag for this purpose, but the zipper constantly comes undone from the weight of my sticking-out water bottle.

Comfort-wise, I prefer a crossbody shoulder bag over a legit daypack, although I'm willing to consider small daypacks that AREN'T built for hydration bladders.

Is this -- a water bottle holder PLUS purse design -- a thing that exists? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Would something like this suit your needs? I don't see measurements online, but you can chat with them to see if they can get that for you...

Possibly this, but you'd have to measure to see if your water bottle would fit.

I’d check out the KAVU sling bags or the Cotopaxi Luzon 18 if you’re ok with a drawstring top

Best answer: You might want to double check the dimensions, but perhaps you are looking for something like a water bottle tote?

I use this Eddie Bauer sling bag for this purpose, and really like it.

I've hiked with a Baggalini crossbody bag that holds a ton. Have also used an Eagle Creek daypak purse - which is my everyday bag but I don't think it would hold as big a waterbottle as a hydroflask - I use a narrower bottle. Both of these bags are nylon and very light.

Best answer: Example of a water bottle carrier that holds an up to 40 oz bottle + phone + keys (but no wallet most likely). I actually have this one and it's pretty rugged, but it really does need to be ONLY bottle + phone + keys + some flat things from a wallet, there's no room for anything else. This one says up to 50 oz. Didn't buy this one so can't speak to its quality. Material doesn't look as tough, but a wallet might be able to go in the back pouch.

Crossbody small backpack/sling bag. It's possible to put the water bottle inside, or to secure it with the straps + maybe a clip. I find the weight of the bottle affects how the bag hangs as a backpack, so it might work if you want the bag to hang more at your side. I also own this one and like it, and it is cheaper than the Kavu brand. I end up using this one more than the water bottle holder because I need like, tissues and stuff.

I have a Swiss Army Bag (the one that I have is a satchel style, but they also have sling styles) that I've been reasonably happy with.

Best answer: I bought this Travelon bag, or one almost exactly like it, in 2018 to take on a trip to Europe. I now use it as a day purse, and my Hydro Flask definitely fits in the mesh water bottle pockets on the side. It's a little bit of a tight fit, though, and after 2 years of shoving various Kleen Kanteens and Hydro Flasks in there, the mesh is getting some holes in, and I'll probably have to switch to the other side (which I currently use for sunglasses) at some point. Other than that, it's in great shape. Not sure how big your wallet is, but unless it's unusually large or overstuffed, it should fit in the main compartment, which indeed has a zipper.

Response by poster: Ahh, Travelon seems to be the key here! I'll try out both their water bottle tote (with a larger zip pocket than I saw on similar water bottle holders) and their classic messenger bag. Thanks all!
