Please help me identify this Cold War era Eastern European movie!

Some time in the 1980s, I watched a movie in color that was being shown on India's Doordarshan TV. The film was in some Eastern European language (Russian/Polish I think), subtitled in English. I have a vivid recollection of some boys traveling on top of a train and playing some kind of game where they would light a Molotov cocktail and delay throwing the bottle until the last possible second.

My first thought was A Generation by Andrzej Wajda. I think it opens with kids trying to steal coal from a passing Nazi train but I don't remember the Molotov cocktail part.
Edit: Sorry, that one was in black and white.

Everything for Sale, also by Wajda? Partially based on the life of the legendary Polish actor Zbigniew Cybulski
