Gif making software for mac that neither sucks or is too heavyweight?

I used the software Gif Movie Gear (Gamani) for about 700 years. It's Windows only but that this point I am effectively Mac only. I don't really want to run an emulator or jump through a bunch of hoops. Any recommendations?

My workflow with the old program is: make drawings in Photoshop, adjust them, copy each iteration as a layer in a separate document, and then import the .psd with those layers into Gamani, and use Gamani to edit the time, looping, etc.

Photoshop has gif animation tools built in but either they suck or I do - I can never get it to do what I want, and things that are simple in Gamani are (seemingly) impossible in Photoshop. Things like: ping pong animation, reverse order, adjust the timing of each frame systematically or from a csv, etc.

I guess if you have specific Photoshop gif animating tips-n-tricks they might be useful, but I'm an old lazy dog with some time crunch, and I think I've banged my head out of whack trying to get it to work already.

I'm willing to pay for this tool. Searching around a bit it seems like the state of the art is about extracting gifs from video files, and that entire use-case is outside of what I'm up to. I don't really want to buy a Lamborghini because I need the tape deck in it.

You're right in your assessment of Photoshop's gif-making tool. They definitely suck.

A lot of people seem to like using Giphy, but I myself haven't given it a shot, so I don't know exactly how good the tools are.

Have you looked at Gif Brewery? It is definitely geared towards extracting from a video, but I believe it also lets you import a set of still images and turn them into an animated gif.
