In the last week I can no longer send email from gmail using my comcast address. My comcast address has been my send from default address in gmail for years.

This is the notice I get from gmail:

You're sending this from a different address or alias using the 'Send mail as' feature. The settings for your 'Send mail as' account are misconfigured or out of date. Check those settings and try resending.

I almost never actually log in to my comcast email. I have logged in since this began and confirmed that my username and password are correct.

I can send and reply from comcast's email page. I can send and receive from gmail using my gmail address.

I have removed my comcast address from gmail > settings > accounts and import > send email as... but when I try to add my comcast address back the
"Add another email address you own" dialog page rejects all my attempts and configurations.

I have checked the comcast page, "How to Set Up Your Comcast Email Address with an Email Program" and have used the settings recommended there under
"outgoing Mail name/port/encryption" I have pretty much tried every other iteration on the gmail page too. The error message I get on the gmail "Add another email address" page is: "Couldn't reach server. Please double-check the server and port number."

Any ideas?

Did you add your gmail address as your POP address in comcast? ( I may not be using the term correctly) anyway in my phone if I want to be able to send email from an account I set up on the computer I have to have ome territory address like my original address and all the alias accounts that end in gmail.com, yahoo.com, comcast.net, etc added to POP mail and then if I want to send or have someone "reply to: a different address than where it originated it's easier to do.

I don’t have a solution but wanted to chime in this started happening for me this week too. It seems to be some kind of change on Googles end and not something specific to your account.
