Where did the porn go?

Is it just me, or has Google become less and less useful as a porn-search tool?

It used to be that I could find scores of free galleries using Google. Now, every search just turns up a ton of paysites, and a few low-quality free sites.

What's the deal? Is Google sucking more? Are free galleries going the way of the dodo? Or do I just need to improve my porn-fu?

It's the China effect.

I would guess that free galleries are being subsumed into pay sites, or that the advertising of pay sites is so aggressive that the free galleries are being buried in the Google results.

Most likely, the free sites are switching over to a membership system. There is a slippery slope when it comes to running free sites; first, ads are adopted to offset server and bandwidth costs, but as the site gets more popular, it becomes necessary to pull in more income. Also, as the number of visitors increases, the potential profitability becomes too large to ignore. People will pay fairly high premiums for porn, so why not let them?

Ugh, fusker sites are the height of lame.

I think the problem is that porn site operators are constantly trying to game Google, far more then other types of sites, so naturally Google degrades those sites in its search rankings. It's really hard for Google to tell the difference between good porn and porn sites that jerk you around or whatever.

thehun.net and asianthumbs.org Asian thumbs are good, old school ways to find porn TGP Gallaries.

Try googling for "TGP".

There really is no such thing as a 'free' porn site. They all exist as feeder sites to pay sites. But there's so much advertisement that you don't even really need to get a pay site subscription.

Some "free" galleries are blocking google image search, as you often can do clever site:www.nakedtoasters.com searches and get all of their pictures and none of their advertisements.

No idea on how to find them otherwise, though.

And oh, yeah, remember that finding porn in a search engine is most often a plague.

I remember the old altavista times when you'd search for _anything_ (like refrigerators) and the first 5 pages would be "XXX refrigerators underage refrigerators fucking fetish". Right before the dawn of google I'd add -xxx to any search on altavista by reflex.

Wait, aren't they the same thing?

If you want quick links, try sublime directory.

There's also guba, which is a pay to play but it searches usenet.

for movies, you could try searches like:

+inurl:avi|mpg|wmv site:megaupload.com
+inurl:avi|mpg|wmv site:rapidshare.de

You say Google sucks because it isn't littered with porn. I love MetaFilter.

My parents (both teachers) and my brother (a HS student) all noticed within days of each other that dogpile.com (a meta-tag search engine that used to be The Junk in, what, 1999?) was both not blocked by school filters AND full of porn on every search.

AFAIK they didn't pay for it... so it must be a Google bug feature.

Dunno why the slag on fusker sites was made. I find a lot of decent stuff thanks to fusker.lewww.com. And I'll check out firefusk too. ;)

thehun.net is cool, but a lot of it is commercial now. Often the same submitters.

For great pr0n, fire up bittorrent. get an empornium.us account, and be a good perv. ;)

I will only love MetaFilter when it's littered with porn.

As a brief aside, can anyone explain how fusker works? I gather that it is some kind of protocol that various people/groups have used to suck images from sites and make the otherwise available. It's easy to find lots of sites that feed fuskered images, but I've found it impossible to find information on fusker itself.

I hear that SexByRSS does exactly what it says. I hear you get to pick your preferred categories, and type of media, and it gives you a charming little RSS feed of free good stuff.

I hear the clips are a little shortish, though.

alms: The fusker site lets you say "At this base URL, show me 001.jpg through 400.jpg all on one page". In return, your search is public so other people can see it. Wikipedia expands a bit.

You might want to check your Advanced Search preferences in Google and ensure that Safe Search filtering is turned off.

um, why do you care? I'm not saying y'all shouldn't be nasty little porn-fiends, but, well, this is the age of BitTorrent.

Have a look at TorrentSpy and then tell me you can't find porn.
