Zoom with text and picture in same window?

Does anyone know of an add on for Zoom that will let you show your face and a document in the same window?

I had a meeting with someone I don’t talk to often (and that wasn’t focused on this) yesterday in Zoom where they were able to show their face in a box superimposed next to a document in the normal Zoom real estate reserved for the picture. They could scroll the document and I could always see their face. Does anyone know what add on they were using?

It sounds like they were sharing the document with you.

Agree with comment above. They were using the sharing feature with you. AFAIK its not an add on, it is a native part of Zoom. We do this all the time in meetings.

Here's the formal documentation from Zoom.

I think this will answer your question:

Best answer: eleanna, I feel like the others are possibly misunderstanding you. You're talking about both your head and the document you're sharing in the same window, not in the same Zoom, right?

Like, we can all share a document so that the speaker and or the gallery of speakers are visible on the left side of the screen and the shared image is on the right side of the screen. If that's what you mean, then yes, it's just sharing.

But it sounds like you're looking for something that makes the document into the virtual background and you get superimposed on it. If I'm right, I believe this is one of the big, exciting features in a product called Mmhmm, which is in beta right now. It works with Zoom as well as Google Meet and some others. Maybe someone else knows a similar one?

I think side-by-side mode is what you are referring to.

Yes, I think it's mmhmm. You can have yourself as a silhouette or in a circle/box, and put slides next to you like a newscaster. You can also have the slide behind you, and then adjust your size, placement, and opacity (or be a blue force ghost).

Response by poster: Yes, The Wrong Kind of Cheese is correct. This is not a native feature of Zoom, the head was superimposed over the document as if it were the background, but it could be scrolled and I could see the whole document.

Response by poster: I love side by side mode though and use it all the time and also document sharing. What made this special was that the head was over the document as if that were the background but I could still see the whole document. Thinking this could be useful for teaching. If anyone knows of other add-one that do this, please let me know. (Done commenting now.)

Best answer: This is definitely accomplishable with OBS. It is effectively software that lets you marry lots of different inputs (webcam, screensharing, pictures, videos) along with graphics and titles. People use it to them share to places like Twitch or Facebook Live, etc. There is additional software that will turn the OBS output into a "virtual webcam" in your computer so that you can use this virtual camera as your Zoom input.
