the mushroom at the end of the summer

I'm interested in going mushroom foraging in the woods in Maine in mid-to-late August. I haven't done this before and would love to hire an experienced guide to teach me. Where might I find such a person?

I'll be staying in a cabin with several friends who would likely want to join. We will be staying in a cabin near Bridgton with a kitchen and wifi. We'll have a car and would be willing to drive a reasonable distance. Of course we would compensate our tour guide generously. Any recommendations would be very welcome!

Maybe someone at the Maine Mycological Association can help you locate someone.

Definitely get in touch with the local chapter of Mycological Association, as noted above- they often have group forages, however these are usually member only (so you'd just need to pay the fee to join first). Another option would be to see if there is a local mushroom foraging group who regularly posts group forages via Meetup.com.

Good luck! Long time mushroom hunter here, it's a big passion of mine and it always makes me happy to see others taking an interest in it too.

I follow a few fungi folk on twitter and found Eagle Hill Foundation (w3 page not twit), at Steuben. Looks awesome.
