IPhone 6 Slow On the Downloads If Even That

I have an iPhone 6 that I am having problems with. Up until recently I have had to upload many of the apps (including Facebook and Instagram) numerous times.

Up until 2 weeks ago, I was notified that the app would not load do to lack of storage space. I purchased more storage space last week. I did things such as sign out of Icloud and back in. Nothing has worked up to now. I purchased a new battery 2 months ago. I've linked to wi-fi with very strong signals. That hasn't worked. The apps continue to say "loadIng" or "waiting.) With the exception of FB, Instagram and Mail (which also load slowly) nothing actually uploads

Help!

How much space does it have? Also keep in mind that iPhone 6s is the oldest phone that supports iOS 13.

Uploads or downloads? It sounds like, to me, that you are out of space on the phone itself, not in the cloud. Do you have a lot of photos and/or music on your phone? I would check the free space on the phone itself. I would upload the pictures to the cloud and delete them from the phone.

iPhones have a mechanism that helpfully tries to free up device space (memory) by unloading applications that you don't use frequently, so that when you want to download something new or take some pictures that your phone doesn't just stop and quit.

However, it sounds like you're so critically low on device space that this mechanism can't free up enough space for you to do anything. This has nothing to do with iCloud or your data connection, this is the physical storage on your phone that can't be upgraded in any way.

You need to free up space by deleting something other than apps. This includes obvious ones like your own music and photos, but also all the photos and videos that people send to you add up and are never cleaned up.

Here's the Apple page on dealing with low device storage. Hopefully one of the recommendations will help you. Try to make a local backup beforehand, as anything you delete from your phone will be lost forever otherwise.

I am dealing with this exact problem right now. Other posters are correct that your internal phone storage is nearly full and the os is basically “juggling” apps as you try to use them. More iCloud storage does not help with this problem, it’s the internal storage that is maxed out.

If your phone is like mine, a lot of this full storage will show up as “other” when you look at Settings>General>iPhone Storage (more than half of the total 16gb shows as “other“ on my phone, compared to just a sliver for “pictures” (because they immediately get offloaded to iCloud, I’m guessing)). Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to figure out how to get rid of it yet. Some websites will tell you to clear your browser cache, and that helps. You can delete large attachments in Messages, and that helps. And basically that’s as far as I’ve gotten. My phone now has a gig and a half of free space and is working much better, but still shows a ton of full “other” storage. I have come across some advice about hooking it up to a computer to clear that storage, but I have no computer to hook it to, so I stopped reading up on that solution.

Hopefully this can point you in the right direction when looking for a solution. I’ll be keeping an eye on the thread in hopes of one myself!

You can get rid of most "other" items by backing up to iCloud, then resetting your phone and restoring from the iCloud backup you just made.

You don't have to use the Facebook app if you sign into Facebook in the Safari browser.
