Help me find metal materials for a DIY rain chain

I'd like to install one or two rain chains at my house. There are lots of options online, but I am thinking about making them instead. I can get the chains easily, but where would I find metal cups or buckets? Or is there another interesting item to use?

I might end up buying these already made, but I'd like to try to get the style, color, and length that I want and maybe save some money and have a fun little project to do. So far the best option seems to be mini galvanized buckets , and I'd drill holes in the bottom. But I don't love the style of the buckets (though the handle is convenient!).

I've seen a few different cup and flower rain chain styles I like. Is there a bulk craft or household item that looks something like that that isn't too expensive?

I was browsing craft shops online, but I don't even know how to search for something like this. I've tried metal cups and votive holders. These tea light holders are cute but they seem too small.

As for materials: right now I think I'm okay with the metal aging or rusting, but I'm open to hearing if that's a bad idea.

I can buy things online or go to a craft or hardware store. Any ideas? Thanks!

If you drill holes into anything plated (like galvanized) it will rust, maybe quickly, from where you drilled.

I would think aluminium would hold up well; copper would do fine if the water does not end up in a body of water.

Aluminum flashing material is probably the least expensive and thin non-rusting material you could find. Most of the narrower widths are aluminum color on both sides, but there are wider selections which have colors.

I believe you would be able to shape it with metal cutting shears and a wooden or metal inverted bowl shape form and a hammer.

It would be relatively easy to drill or punch holes for drainage or attachment.

I'm not sure of how the sound would compare with some of the bronze or copper ones, but they would certainly carry water.
