Name This Movie

I remember this quote, from a woman, about parenting. It was something along the lines of "We all damage them somehow. You just hope it's not too bad." What was this from?

She was in a conversation with another person, and commenting on parenting. I think it was a movie, but could've been a show, and it's not anything from too long ago. That line really resonated with me and I'm just itching to remember it.

I have a vague recollection of this I think, maybe from Six Feet Under?

How sure are you it is from a movie? I think it would be right at home in Better Things, for example.

This sounds like it could be from Marriage Story (aka the recent Very Sad Adam Driver movie) but I'm not positive.

StokerĀ (2013)

Evelyn Stoker: You know, I've often wondered why it is we have children in the first place. And the conclusion I've come to is... At some point in our lives we realize things are screwed up beyond repair. So we decide to start again. Wipe the slate clean. Start fresh. And then we have children. Little carbon copies we can turn to and say, "You will do what I could not. You will succeed where I have failed." Because we want someone to get it right this time. But not me... Personally speaking I can't wait to watch life tear you apart.

I have a vague recollection of this I think, maybe from Six Feet Under?

We're just making our way through Six Feet Under and when I first read the question this is what I immediately thought but no quote lists from it online get at it. We're just about done Season 3.

Response by poster: Thanks everyone. The memory finally just surfaced and it's actually from an interview in the documentary I just finished editing. I will show myself out now.
