Looking for Dutch(?) Holocaust fiction book

I remember reading a dutch, I believe, novel about a young man who witnesses a Jewish neighbor outside and the family next door doesn't act to save him. But years later he finds out that they weren't Nazi sympathizers but actually already had a Jew in hiding in their house already. I believe this is a classic of Holocaust literature but the name escapes me. Thanks.

It's nonfiction, but could it be The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom?
