Why does my iPad see Gmails that my PCs don't?

On my iPad (Pro), I am able to receive certain messages in Gmail that do NOT show up when I check them on one of my two PCs--a desktop and a laptop. I've gone through the settings, filters, but can't figure this out.

Both PCs run Windows 10, the iPad..whatever the current IOS is. On the iPad I use the Gmail app, and on my PCs this problem exists on both Firefox and Chrome.

Right now I'm seeing on my iPad Gmail app a threaded conversation with a person on craigslist. I go to my PCs and that conversation is NOT there. I've checked everywhere: the trash, spam, it's nowhere. I've removed all filters in the Gmail settings. It may be only craigslist emails, I'll have to look into that, but like I said, I don't have any active filters.

Any ideas, you tech masters, you?

Have you checked the different inboxes?

Have you tried searching for the conversation? Either by email address or subject or something?

Double check that you don't have multiple accounts added on the iPad. That being said, it might be a syncing error. Potential steps: you get email on your iPad and your PC, you remove it from PC, and for whatever reasons that deleted doesn't sync with the iPad. Now the message doesn't exist in GMail or your PC, but it's still there on the iPad.

There are three tabs in the Gmail inbox: Primary (red), Social (blue), and Promotions (green). On the Apple mail app, everything is all in one place. Have you checked the other tabs in Gmail? Craigslist would likely be in the Social tab. The tabs are just above the first email message.

This would be my guess - gmail’s threading is 1) different from everyone else’s 2) absolutely awful and 3) nigh-unusable. The conversation thread might be hidden on a completely different date for reasons only known to gmail.

On PC/ web-browser click "V More" on the left hand column and click "All Mail" next to Letter symbol. For some reason on my computer/ web the filtering of spam is much more aggressive than with Gmail on iOS; some emails that are visible on iPhone are not visible on my computer unless I check all mail.

You could also try starring the conversation in the app, and checking if it turns up in your starred folder on the PC.

You can have anything up to 4 inboxes - the fourth is Forums (purple). But it’s customizable, so not everyone will have the same number, and it’s not unlikely that someone could have just one email inbox.

At least for me, the Gmail app on iOS also divides the inboxes in the same way. I would assume they are merged if you are using a different email app to access Gmail like the Apple mail app.

Can you see them when you use the web interface from your iPad or is it only with the app?

The inbox variances are user defined in settings. If you use the all mail tab and set your settings to NOT thread conversations, They should all be there. I would confirm that the "phantom" emails are in fact addressed to the email address on your other devices.
