Mentioning organizations on LinkedIn that don't show in drop down menu

I know the basics of mentioning an organization. Type @ followed by name and choose company from drop down. However, I often come across companies that I know have LinkedIn pages but do not show up in the drop down unless I type in a very specific, sometimes random name. How do I find that name out?

Here's an example. Yesterday I had to mention a hospital as a sponsor in a post. Say the name of the hospital is Chicago General (not real). I go to their LinkedIn page and the URL address has the extension as Chicago-General. I then spend a half hour trying @Chicago-General, @Chicago, @General, etc. but the hospital name never comes up in the drop down. Finally, a co-worker randomly suggests trying CGH and bam, it shows up in the menu. Is there any way to know, perhaps through someone's LinkedIn page that this is what you have to type to have the organization name show up? We have a bunch of these posts coming up and we're wasting time trying to find the secret sauce for each company name. Thanks!

If you can find their company page, is it the text that's right after "https://www.linkedin.com/company/" in the URL?

Response by poster: Thanks but unfortunately it's not. That's the example I gave in the post. I would have thought it would be but it isn't.

I have dealt with this - with sponsors also. I don’t have a secret sauce but a few things I did that helped were: looking for LinkedIn buttons on company websites and seeing what URL and LinkedIn ID those had (when I could find them); LinkedIn searches for employees I knew at the company and then clicking on the company name in their profile and seeing what ID *that* had; phoning my contacts at the company and asking for their LinkedIn @ details. In retrospect I wasted a lot of time with the first two options. Do you (or someone dealing direct with the sponsor if it’s not you?) have an agreement or even intro email you could standardize with a line about the sponsor providing you with the correct, specific, @ details for them?
