Laptop hard drive failing need hard drive suggestions

My trusty macbook mid-2012's secondary hard drive is making the beeping noise. I need some SSD recommendations for this model

I just booted up my laptop and after 30 minutes got a beeping noise. I went ahead and ran disk utility and yeah, the second drive is failing. I am cloning the drive right now in preparation for the inevitable failure.

My boot drive is a 2 TB from OWC. The failing drive is a 1 TB Seagate Fusion drive that has already been manufacturer replaced once already. I feel I need to step away from Seagate for internal drives.

What is compatible and is nicely priced for 2 TB SSD that will work in a Macbook 2012? I can get things in the US and Australia.

I have a couple of 2011/2012-era MBPs, and I recall that the OWC aux-drive setup (the thing that replaces the CD drive) only works with a SATA-II SSD. Those were hard to come by, and probably unobtanium now. So if you're trying to replace a spinning hard drive that's in the CD bay, you may be in for a hassle.

If you're replacing a drive in the original Mac disk location, any SSD will work. The last time I upgraded, I installed a Samsung EVO 860 2TB (US$250 on Amazon), but I've used SanDisk, Kingston, and other random drives with good results, too.

Response by poster: As an update, I checked my mac and it seems that it can handle 6G at the hard drive controller for both the default drive location and the secondary drive. And taking a look at OWC it seems that they are recommending a SATA III for me at 6G.
