What if I want to hire 2 people to assemble a wardrobe

How can I hire TWO people to assemble an IKEA wardrobe? The instructions call for 2 people and after trying it myself I understand why. But Thumbtack and Taskrabbit are only set up to let you hire 1 person at a time. You can hire 2 people if you want but is that the only/best way? Is there some other service I can look into?

I wish we could go back to the way Ikea used to do it where the people who delivered it also set it up but that is no longer an option at my local store.

Where are you? If you're in Chicago (or some near north suburbs), I can give a specific recommendation, and if you're somewhere else, handyman services might do this kind of thing.

Best answer: When I had a big IKEA item to assemble I just googled IKEA + assembly + [my city] and got names of dozens of businesses that literally only assemble furniture. I picked the best-reviewed one and two workers came and put my thing together. They did a GREAT job, and the item they assembled lasted much longer than a similar item I'd assembled myself.

IKEA's partnered with TaskRabbit -- is it possible that going through that service would get you the right number of people for the job?

Response by poster: Nope tried that. I just gave up and am doing it myself, it's hard but easier.

Best answer: On TaskRabbit I’ve asked the taskers if they can bring a helper and negotiated the fee.

When I needed two people to move heavy things up a flight of stairs, I wrote my TaskRabbit description explaining I needed two people, and then I hired two different TaskRabbiters to show up at the same time. (I hired the first one and asked if he had a friend he could recruit, and he explained I could hire a second person via the TaskRabbit interface.)
