Latex Mattress Toppers 2.0

Expanding on this question and the suggestions for latex mattress toppers, I have a couple more questions about these miraculous toppers.

1) Will a topper help a slightly saggy mattress? We made a poor choice with our last mattress purchase, but since it's only 2 years old, we are not quite ready (financially or ecologically) to jettison the old-ish mattress. We are both overweight and the mattress gets hollows where we sleep. We've resorted to turning the mattress 90° each week when we change the sheets, which seems to help the "hollows". Unfortunately, one of our poor choices was a single-sided/non-flippable mattress.

2) How do you choose the firmness of the topper?

While I don't know if this applies to latex toppers (maybe they are too heavy?), I've found it annoying that foam toppers can shift around.

In my experience, putting a foam (not latex) mattress topper on top of a bed (sagging from the box springs) didn't really address the problem since the topper and the bed sagged proportionately. Adding a bed board (a glorifed piece of plywood) reduced sag and made the mattress feel overall feel firmer.

Best answer: Latex toppers are generally a lot more substantial than foam toppers. With the caveat that nothing is a real fix for a sagging mattress, I'd suggest trying a 3" soft or medium topper. (Warning: the firmness of these should not be underestimated. Unless you love a *really* firm experience, I would not suggest firm.)

We had a slightly saggy, but originally firm old mattress. We bought a medium 2", and it was too firm. We switched to the soft 2", and it was JUUUUUST right. The company suggests a 3" topper for people who want to substantially change the feel of their mattress.

Returns are free (including shipping), and they sent me a gigantic box to stuff mine in to return it, so it was pretty easy. YMMV, but I think it's probably worth a shot.

Edit: I'd suggest ordering directly from the company website instead of through Amazon, as returns/exchanges are easier that way.

Best answer: I have a latex topper on a not great slightly saggy mattress and while it doesn't actually fix the sags, it does make them super comfortable.

And my latex topper is as good as when I bought it 7 ish years ago.

Never noticed the exact size but I'd guess mine was 2 inches, if not a bit thinner.
