Has anyone redrawn the D&D red box cover art with a female warrior?

I'm going to tackle my first big cross stitch project - the 1983 D&D "Red Box" cover art, as interpreted here but I would like to replace the 'conan' type warrior with a woman. Short of commissioning an artist to make my dream a reality, has anyone already re-done the painting with a female warrior?

Maybe not what you're looking for but here is the original concept art, prominently featuring a woman magic-user:

Huh, this? Looks to me like she's already a woman. I mean, you can't see definitively. But certainly she's presenting in a conventionally feminine way: long, flowing hair; smooth, shaved legs; and she's even wearing a cute little skirt as part of her whole ensemble, not to mention that flashy gold bracelet. I think if you were simply to turn her a bit in your adaptation, so that you could see her face and upper body in profile, it would become clear that she was a woman the whole time.

(Obviously this is a bit tongue-in-cheek. I don't mean to deny the sexism of fantasy character design; just suggesting a possible fun way of reimagining the character. Cf. The Mighty Thor as a modern example of a female character with a similar look.)

Um. I was today years old when I looked at that cover and didn't see the character as a woman.

This sort of feels like one of those magic eye posters where you think it's just a random pattern and then after seeing it on the wall for years, you finally spot the kitten, or whatever.

Response by poster: Justkevin, thanks for the original concept art, I'd never seen it before!

Syllepsis and jzb, thank you from the bottom of my gamer girl heart, the idea that the character could have been a woman this whole time never occurred to me but is definitely now my headcanon. We've always been a part of this hobby, and all it takes is some creativity and imagination to see that, both of which gamers have in droves.

I want to say I have seen a version like that, but have no idea when or where and could be wrong. Best of luck in your search!
