build simple web page

Any services out there like Google Page Creator?
So Google Page Creator is not going to let the masses in for a while. It sounded like such a slick, simple tool for creating a page...no fussing with formating, hosting, etc.etc. I've used Blogger before to just throw together a basic page of info (block party invite, community event, etc.) but would love something just as easy without the blog format.

If you are willing to spend a little money, ($8.95 mo) Yahoo Small Business has Sitebuilder, which is similar in style, but has many more features. I've used it for my wife's art gallery for over 3 years with no problems so far.

Don't assume that google page creator is closed for long. I read about it last week, tried a couple of times for a day or two, and it was closed. Then I got up Saturday, said what the hell, and gave it a try. No problem. I used several gmail accounts to register for several pages.
BTW, it's so easy to use that it's ridiculous.

Yahoo Geocities is free and still running, though I have no idea how good it is.
Incidentally, Google pages is essentially trying to compete with Geocities, which was the biggest free-homepage site last time I checked (though that may have been many years ago).

Geocities is a bit clunky, but it gets the job done. The interface hasn't been updated in years though, and I'm hoping that some competition from Google will change that.

Response by poster: Thanks for the tip, MetaMonkey! But Geocities is so lame comapred to what I've read about Google Pages. I guess I'll just have to keep on my toes like bim suggested. Geocities' page applet doesn't work for any OS other than Windows :(
