I've saved over a file, can I get it back?

Help, I've just saved over a massive PowerPoint file!

Please help, I was just extracting single slides from a big Powerpoint Deck and hit CTRL +S without changing the filename - now I only have one slide! I have a previous version, but I've lost all the changes I made over the last two days. I've tried looking for .tmp files, but can't find anything.

Help!

I've done the same thing before just minutes before giving the presentation.

Saving it probably wiped out any temporary or autosave versions.

I think you're screwed.

Response by poster: I just found all the text in Google Desktop Cache - it's wiped the formatting, but I can bodge it from the old version by copying and pasting - gonna take me a while though.

Jeez, always back up, always back up *smacks head*

Oh, man, Dave. I was sweating in sympathy here, but I'm glad to hear that Google app was some help. *runs off to Google to investigate*

Versioning (renaming the file every day/every major addition) is how I avoid this problem.

Oh, I also mail a copy to myself in gmail at the end of every day so if my HD gets borked, I'll still have that backup.
