Dryer vent code clarification

I have a question about dryer vent exhaust termination as it relates to the International Residential Code (IRC). Exciting details inside.

The IRC, which I'm referencing from this link (Section M1502.3), specifies that a clothes dryer exhaust should terminate "outside the building... not less than 3 feet in any direction from openings into buildings."

When exiting through a roof, does an "opening" as defined above include plumbing vent pipes like this? Or does it refer just to windows, doors, and other entrances where a homeowner would attempt to introduce fresh air into a home?

It's this. The idea is to let exhaust gasses/odors disperse. Plumbing vents should only exhaust - and in any case should be sealed off from the living space by traps or one-way valves.

Agreed. Plumbing vents never "open into the building".
