What did I witness zooming past me on I79?

On Saturday June 1st I was traveling north on I79 in WV. Somewhere around mile marker 65 this group of 7 or 8 cars passed me all going well over 100 mph. It was a mix of sporty vehicles that you don't expect to see in this area. I remember an Audi R8 leading the pack, followed by a Lamborghini, a Ferrari, a few nondescript hatchbacks, trailed by a Chrysler Crossfire convertible.

All of the vehicles had a graphic that identified them as a group. The graphic was very light in color and hard to read but is said something like "pudge.run". The graphic didn't appear to be permanent and was not in a consistent location on all the vehicles. Any idea what this group was doing? Did I witness a Cannonball Run type race?

Best answer: My nephew is involved with a group who do this. His is the "Ace of Spades" rally, and it seems to consist of fancy cars driving in packs, going to hotels and hanging out. All the cars involved have the same decal to identify them. Definitely not a race.

Probably just a local Cars & Coffee/car club get together. I know a bunch of people who routinely get together to just drive on nice stretches of road where they can open up and drive their fancy and fast cars and then get some grub.

Ftsqg and rachaelfaith have it. Cars and Coffee is extremely active in Pittsburgh, and many of the participants do road rallies including Ace Spade. What colors were the cars in question and do you know models? There's a good chance my brother knows the individuals and can follow up on if it was a joy ride or an actual rally event.

Alternately, I know I've seen stuff from companies that want to rent you a supercar for a few hours during which you will drive on public roads from point a to point b obeying all traffic laws wink. Dunno why you'd want to do that instead of a few track laps in the same car but shrugemoji.

Response by poster: bfranklin they all scooted by me too fast. I think the R8 might have had neon green accents and the Cross Fire was navy blue.

Not sure based on those. The lambo would probably be the easiest to ID -- not a lot of those around.
