Best handheld cordless vacuum for pet hair?

I'm in the market for a very specific vacuum and need recommendations. Details inside.

I have a ten year old powerhouse of a Dyson for indoor vacuuming and it is phenomenal in getting up fur from the dog and cat. I need something handheld (not stick) that will do an equally good job in my car and for occasions where I don't want to pull out the big vacuum, like getting the cat fur out of the air vents. I don't want to spend more than $200 and around $100 would be better. It needs to be cordless so I can use it in my car and I strongly prefer bagless. I'd also prefer a washable filter. The animals shed a LOT so strong suction is good. Do you know this vacuum? Or one that fits most of my checklist? I'm tired of getting out of my car and being covered in dog fur. Thanks!

Best answer: The Dyson cordless is great, comes with non-stick attachment.

You should also check out the lint rollers from Muji. They are life changing, and come in both travel size and paint roller size.

I'd go with a shop vac instead of anything specifically marketed for "home" use.

Dewalt makes two that are small-ish and cordless. One is a half-gallon sized handheld and operates on battery only. And there's a slightly larger 2 gallon one that can be operated either with battery or corded.

I have the 1/2 gallon size and regularly use it for sucking up stray kitty litter and the like. I haven't specifically used it for large amounts of fur, but I have accidentally sucked up entire cat toys by accident. The suction is still going strong several years later, unlike literally every dustbuster-type vac I have ever owned.

Best answer: Dyson cordless bought from Craigslist or Gumtree equivalent. This would meet your budget number. Make sure you get all the attachments because it makes a great indoor vac substitute when you want to tidy without hauling the big vacuum.

Best answer: After buying two cheaper handheld vacuums for pet hair that fell apart after a year each, I splurged and bought the Dyson V7 Car + Boat. I adore it. At first I thought all the attachments were superfluous, but I use them all. The filter is easy to clean, and the thing is a powerhouse. I wish the battery lasted a little longer.

Response by poster: Just ordered the Dyson V7 Car + Boat. I had a feeling that’s where I’d end up when I wrote this question (it just so happens to be $199.99 before tax) so I was glad for the confirmation! Thanks!
