Which GOT Episodes to ReWatch Before Digging Into This Season?

Was outside the country and haven't touched this season's Game of Thrones. Downside: I've been spoilered (on fate of Snow King). Upside: I can get savvy rewatching advice. One friend said to rewatch the very first episode and the final episode of last season. Without needing to reconnect to every single plot point, are there any other episodes I should review before proceeding?

I don't want lots of homework, because it will delay my catch-up (thus increasing chances I'll be further spoiled)! Please limit to 1-2 suggested episodes!

To be honest, the recaps and everything are more than enough to get you caught up. I'd just start! The first episodes are kind of a catch-up in and of themselves.

I can't remember how I came across it, but in searching for a list of episodes to rewatch before the first episode of the season aired, I found The COMPLETE Game of Thrones Recap | CRAM IT (53 min, YouTube), and it did the trick.

We started re-watching from S1E1. You might find it interesting & worthwhile to view the first episode of the series before going into season 8. There are a number of things in the first and second episodes of S8 that are direct callbacks to that first episode. (Also just interesting to see how the actors have aged / grown since.)

Best answer: Three episodes then:

S1E1, for the previously-mentioned.

S7E6 and

S7E7

Those three should sum up all the needed facts going into S8.

I spent a couple of weeks following this list of episodes (the first list - plot episodes)

While reading these very good episode recaps for all the episodes in between.

I watched this season 7 recap on YouTube.

I then watched the last episode of season 7 and, quite frankly, I needn't have bothered as the recap covered all important stuff that happened in a much shorter time.

TL;DR just watch the recap.
