Do you have a repair person for metal zippers in manhattan or brooklyn? Do you love their work and recommend them with your whole heart?
Tell me. I beg you.
In keeping with Vimes’ theory of boots, a few years ago I got a screaming good deal on a pair of knee high Frye boots. I’ve gotten them resoled diligently and now the zipper up the back of one has failed. My regular shoe guy didn’t even look at the zipper and says he only works on plastic zippers and he’ll swap mine out because plastic is better quality. I’m hoping someone can take a look at my boots and tell me the zipper isn’t even broken, just needs....some love. Even if that repair only gets me a few months or years, I’d rather keep the waste out of the landfill, ya know?

Response by poster: I ended up going to a place suggested by a friend. It’s near union square and I don’t want to look like a shill but it was $5 and about 2 minutes to fix the zipper pull. So I bought a pair of boot trees because it turns out pool noodles aren’t the best way to keep your boots standing up straight, and bunching up the zipper is bad for it.
