Puzzles! Tricks! Traps!

Recommendations for puzzle-rooms and dungeon encounters? I've poked around on DriveThru but would appreciate pointers towards anything good, either online or in hard copy.

I'm running a 5e game with six characters at the 6th level (Hello fellow Mefite who is playing in the game! You should probably avert your eyes.)

It's been a while, but if we can ever get organized, there will be one more session to fight the big bad in its lair. For fun and giggles, and maybe weaken the party a little, I'd like to have a puzzle room or trap or encounter or two before that happens.

The adventuring party is very hot, and very not-smart. The players are all incredible bean-platers and second-guessers, and a scenario that requires characters to get physically dirty would probably be fun, as we have some fastidious characters. I'm happy to convert from another system or edition or challenge level, and happy to buy online or in hard copy. And even if it isn't right for this game, I'd love to build my DM'ing base of knowledge.

Recommendations? Suggestions?

One word: Otyugh.

OK, more words: use a Grimtooth's Traps variant to drop the party into the vicinity of the Otyugh (or actually into the Otyugh). Search online and you'll get PDFs of the original 1981 book but I'm not sure of the legality so I won't link it here.

Personally, the best traps I've seen where in an old issue of Kobold Quarterly, and adapted the 4e Complex Encounter system (or whatever it was called) to d20 and traps. They where room sized mechanical abominations, but I only have those issues in hardcopy, so can't quickly look up which one it is.

Rick Reid's "Fluffy Quest" modules have good traps, many of them really humiliating to parties who think adventures should be about shiny heroes.

My most devious trap room involves a bunch of ropers on the ceiling , above what appears to be a medium-depth (like 5ft) pit which is in fact filled with a gelatinous cube.

The ropers have some of their tentacles extended like a rope to swing over the pit. If someone takes up the rope, they are instantly pulled to the ceiling. If they fall, they are enveloped by the cube.

To spice things up, the door on the other side could be a mimic and the true way out is a tunnel underneath the gelatinous cube.
