Online story workshopping site?

Is there an online community site where you can get your stories workshopped?

I've been writing a lot lately, both fiction and non-fiction, and I find I always get great input when other people critique my stuff. Is there a site where aspiring writers can submit their work and get feedback?

There are a ton of LJ (www.livejournal.com) communities devoted to this. From what I've seen they tend to be VERY specific. Accounts on LJ are free, so take a look around.

I believe American Zoetrope used to have something like this, but not sure if they still do -- they might have moved strictly to an online class structure.

Scrawl is some tough love, but my writing has improved more there than anywhere else, online or off.

Thanks for asking this — I've been curious too.

It's worth noting that most of these sites are, somewhat like MeFi itself, communities. Please don't just drop in and have your first interaction with them be 'critique meeeeee'. Offer your own advice and feedback to others, first.

You might already realize this, you probably already realize this. But I offer it up anyway, just in case.
