I need an animal behaviorist who works with dogs in Houston. Any suggestions?

I'm assuming that by "animal behaviorist" you mean "obedience training", but I could certainly be wrong about that.

We just took our year and a half old bulldog to Man's Best Friend, just off of Beltway 8. We got her back two weeks ago and we're very happy, although it was fairly expensive and it's a lot of work for both us and the dog.

It might help to have little more specifics. There are good training classes available at My Dog and Me in the Heights and at Petsmart, believe it or not.

What behaviors are you seeking to modify? Basic training or something more advanced.

Response by poster: Actually, we need a trained behaviorist, not a trainer. We're dealing with some fear/aggression issues, and we need to call in the big guns.

I've been working with Jim Burwell at Rover Oaks. He's some kind of dog-whisperer type celebrity. I have the same problem- a rescue German Short-Haired Pointer who was raised in a cat kennel and shows aggression to large male dogs. Basically my little guy just never got socialized properly so he comes at large male dogs with a lot of posturing, even when they're trying to be friendly. It makes for some tense moments at the dog part - I know my dog won't actually bite anyone, but we want him to enjoy his time at the park.
Anyway - Jim and I worked together once, saw immediate results, I was sent home with homework that we're still doing, and I have another appt sheduled for next week. It's expensive ($250 for two sessions) and you have to pay up front. But he's good. I was amazed at the results he got in an hour.
