Who (besides, obviously, the nominees, Academy members and presenters) are all those people at the Oscars? And how does that invitation process work?

I know sponsors (advertisers) and network people get invites.

All I can tell you is that I have a friend who is going as a date for a producer and I'm wicked freakin' jealous.
