Seeking a Trans-Friendly PCP in the Albany NY area

Any ideas?

My wife is a trans woman. We just moved to the Albany area and she recently got out of a Really Uncomfortable initial appointment with a doctor who she will Most Certainly not be returning to. She has a month's worth of her current prescriptions to take her to the next PCP but she's very demoralized and scared. Doctors have never done her many favors. We've got a few options to research but I'm shaking all the trees I can get my hands on.

(I am aware that there's some great trans-friendly doctors if we're willing to drive an hour or more. It would be nice to have someone more local.)

So does anyone have any Albany area PCP recommendations? She has very general purpose, on-going care type stuff. Re-up current scripts, check blood pressure. Nothing fancy. Just with some damned dignity.

I'd suggest reaching out to a Planned Parenthood in Albany. If she needs hormone prescriptions, specifically, she could most likely get them there directly, and they're likely to be able to refer her to an LGBT-friendly local PCP.

I asked a friend of mine who is trans and has lived in that area for about a decade, and they recommended Dr. Sipperly, and also to inquire on the Albany queer exchange on facebook.

Best wishes for your friend, I know this is really hard.

Either of the doctors Wolf-Gould (Carolyn or Christopher) in Oneonta, or their office staff at Susquehanna Family Practice (607-431-5757), might be able to give you a referral to someone closer to you.
