can I use an old iPhone as an AirPlay receiver?

I've got an old iPhone 4S sitting around unused, and a pair of very good amplified speakers that aren't currently connected to anything. Is there any way to turn the old phone into an AirPlay receiver so I can send music through it from my Macbook and my current iPhone?

You won't be able to use the Apple-branded AirPlay feature. But there is a workaround with a third party app Airfoil.

If you want to use the built-into-os AirPlay you'll have to get a used Airport Express and connect that to your speakers.
