Bookfilter: What was this cat-themed book?

BookFilter: An older children's chapter book about cats/pets in different historical situations, with pretty illustrations.

Here's everything I think I know about this book.

It was a fiction book.
It was a larger book, not paperback size.
It was aimed at children, but probably more like elementary age+, 4th to 7th grade?
It was about multiple cats in multiple historical timelines OR one cat that had ~9 'lives' in different parts of history. If I really got things wrong, it may have been about not just cats, but different animals. But pretty sure it was just cats.
It had nice color illustrations of at least a few of these scenarios.
I think I remember one Egypt-centric scenario.

Please help me find this so I can gift it to my nieces!

It's not Garfield, his 9 lives?

Album of Cats?

There were two other similar books: Album of Dogs and Album of Horses, both by Marguerite Henry.

Not those, nope.

I read and owned this book in the 1990's, probably initially around 1995.

Christophe in Egypt: the odyssey of Pharaoh’s cat by Inge Fischer?
"Christophe, a New York cat visits the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Egyptian galleries and finds himself transported back to Ancient Egypt."

I don't think it's either of these, but I will link this in case you're conflating stories... Felines Through Time: Time Traveling Cats. Another possible contender, though I think it's too late for your timeline: The Time-Travelling Cat and the Egyptian Goddess (Time-Travelling Cat series) by Julia Jarman.

Also no. Sigh. Did I make it up? Or I got some details terribly wrong. I'll keep looking on my own and check back periodically, and will update if I figure it out.
