Twice as nice for six times the price?

Where can I buy cheap DVD DL (double-layer) discs, and what's the cheapest price that you've found (either on-line or in a store)? It doesn't matter if they are - or +.

Also, why are DL discs still so expensive? It seems like the price hasn't gone down over the last two years, unlike the regular, single-layer DVDs.

I have a helluva time (as in, I haven't been able to find a reliable source) for DL DVD-Rs.

DVD+Rs are expensive, but readily available - but many set-top DVDs don't support them.

I think it may have something to do with DVD piracy (rather, trying to limit DVD piracy).

hmm, thanks for the link criousleo (I like the Ritek brand) but, man, dual layer discs are still hella expensive.

Best answer: Oh, I forgot - I've bought from BlankDVDMedia a couple of times before. They ship within Canada really fast (after paypal clears - although I see that they have new payment options) and they have ok prices (you get what you pay for; dirt cheap blank media isn't worth the error/failure rate). No idea what their US shipping is like.

Best answer: SuperMediaStore isn't always the cheapest, but it is nearly always a good deal for all sorts of optical media. They also accept returns on media that turns out to be incompatible or unreliable (and do a pretty fair amount of compatibility testing themselves).

once in a while bestbuy.com has deals on Verbatim DVD+R DL; last time it was $19.99 for a spindle of 10. this is a really good deal as verbatim DL is pretty high quality.

ritek seems to be a bit hit-and-miss. i dont have experience with their DL media, but their 4x DVD-R media was very good and their 8x DVD-R media is just bad. i moved on to Verbatim DVD-R and finally to Taiyo Yuden, which really is as good as everyone says it is.
