Slow song mostly carried by the bass line and vocals. Here are the examples I can think of (really it was hearing the NIN song last year that made me realize that I like this kind of song):
- Nine Inch Nails - This Isn't The Place
- U2 - If You Wear That Velvet Dress
- Passengers - Your Blue Room
- Elbow - I've Got Your Number
- Lamb - Lullaby
Are you familiar with Morphine? They were a bass, drums, and sax trio.
Also, early Low?

Q magazine's March 1997 cover story on U2 includes a track-by-track summary of Pop, which memorably describes 'If You Wear That Velvet Dress' thus: "Muted and, frankly, horny ballad with echoes of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game. Something for the weekend. Edge: 'That was a song that basically came out of improvisation with Nellee Hooper'."
I'm not familiar with Chris Isaak or Nellee Hooper, but based on that summary, they might be worth investigating?
Incidentally, the following month's issue features a two-page review of Pop, and here's what the reviewer says about IYWTVD: "But the moon is mistress of their brooding heavy-breather, If You Wear That Velvet Dress, wherein Bono groans, lost in lust."

Following the seam mined by 1995's 'Your Blue Room' and 1997's 'If You Wear That Velvet Dress', the 2000 soundtrack to The Million Dollar Hotel is an album-length exploration of music squarely in that vein.
I think these tracks meet your "Slow song mostly carried by the bass line and vocals" requirements:

I think these tracks meet your "Slow song mostly carried by the bass line and vocals" requirements:
- Bono and the MDH Band, 'Never Let Me Go'
- U2, 'Stateless'
- Milla Jovovich with the MDH Band, 'Satellite of Love'
- Bono and Daniel Lanois, 'Falling At Your Feet' [but maybe not quite as slow as you would like?]
- Brad Mehldau with Bill Frisell, 'Tom Tom's Room'
- Bono, 'Dancin' Shoes'

Tricky’s solo work fits the bill too, if you like the Massive Attack/Portishead trip hop stuff.

I came here to suggest Portishead too.
What about Bjork, such as All is Full of Love? It has that ethereal feeling of Your Blue Room.

Maybe Sludge Factory by Alice In Chains? It’s not quite as lovely as some of these other suggestions though.
